Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is a government-owned company in Malaysia responsible for managing student visa applications to Malaysia, including other related services for international students. Established under the Ministry of Higher Education, EMGS serves as the one-stop center to ensure a smooth and efficient process for international students to study in Malaysia.

Provides guidance on application status, insurance, and medical screenings

Offers online tracking for visa applications through the EMGS website and mobile app.

In Malaysia, degree programs such as Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD are commonly offered by public and private universities. For diploma or certificate programs, they are typically offered by polytechnics, university colleges, or other colleges/institutions.

If you have received an offer to study in Malaysia, you can initiate your visa application process at the Malaysian Immigration office.

Alternatively, you can get the Education Malaysia Global Services assistance to obtain the student visa.

For citizens of ASEAN countries, student visas are not required if your study is less than one month, except for students from Myanmar.

However, if you are an ASEAN citizen studying in Malaysia for more than one month, you are required to apply for a student visa. Only citizens of Brunei and Singapore are exempted from this requirement, regardless of the duration of their stay.

If you plan to bring your family, they also need a Visa with Reference (VDR). Additional documents are required with their application, which is made through your institution.

If your parents want to accompany you during your study, they can apply for a social visit pass for up to 12 months or following the period of the student pass. 

They can also apply for ‘Multiple Entry Visa’ (MEV) for multiple entries to Malaysia and their home country during this duration.
